Your observation of village connectivity reminds me of the glue some places are losing, but it’s not lost. We tighten the web with our individual weave.

A while ago I set a code for my social behavior, targeting strangers in particular.

I greet folks with eye contact, a smile, a nod to acknowledging their space alongside mine. With this brief exchange, my task is performed. I expect nothing in return.

I have hermit tendencies, but I love those unexpected moments of connection waiting for the ‘walk’ sign to change, or searching an aisle at the grocery store, that lack further requirement. Even just eye contact and a quick smile affirm a connection to the rest of humanity.
