So true, Nancy! I think that whole concept that the valuable things can't be bought is one that runs deepest in my own life philosophy. But we do need to survive and trade. I wish Substack had little cafes sometimes, with little fireplaces and lots of chai, where we could gather to discuss. Tech offers us to opportunity to connect, which I'm grateful for, but I want more of that connection (and I fear it's going the way of less).
We do seem to exist in our personal silos (I certainly do this to myself at times), less eager than ever before to venture out, to hear someone else's experience, to simmer in the stuff outside our comfort zones. And I think something has been lost in that. More cafes, yes!
Mutual benefit, not mutual payoff. Yes. What is more beautiful and real than work that is both?

If I could wave a wand and get any support I needed, it would be a year off work. Just to heal and write. That's it. Ha!
